I had a chance to hop on the phone with Will following his first visit yesterday to The Shoe as a prospect, here are some highlights he discussed about his day and quotes he shared with the Scarlet and Gray Report.....
Will started the visit after he arrived by watching the hype video for the game with all the players at the hotel, and then went over to the Skull Session.
Following the Skull session Will and the rest of the prospects headed over to the stadium for the recruiting meal, here Will had a chance to have a conversation with Coach Johnson and he spoke with Coach Day as well.
The message from Coach Johnson and Coach Day....
"They see me more as a defensive tackle, they want me to get big, at least 260lbs heading into senior year, and come back to camp in the summer."
After the game, Will and the prospects had a chance to be in the locker room following the win, and in his words....."it was hype, it was awesome!"
When I asked Will to summarize his visit in a few words....
"There were a lot of fans and it was really loud, It was awesome!"
The recruiting visits won't slow down for Will, as he has plans the next few weeks to visit Miami (OH), Pitt, and West Virginia.
My initial take:
Not shocked to hear Coach Johnson and Coach Day stressed adding weight and see him as a DT at the next level. I also don't think he will have much issue adding that weight. I don't know if the Buckeyes will ever end up offering down the road, but it would obviously be a dream come true for Will. Regardless, Will is definitely a college defensive tackle and will have the opportunity to play somewhere for sure. He changes direction extremely well for someone at his size, keeping his agility will be key for him as he adds strength and weight. We will have good intel on this one as Will's high school coach is one of my good friends, so if anything happens, we will make sure to keep you all in the loop.
