Spoke to the Fourth Wiseman--at length--and was granted some special insight...

"First of all, the Ed Warinner firing was not just about on the field results. Had a lot to do with how Ed relates to people in the program. Big people and little people. Be careful about who you step on as you go up the ladder of life, as you may see them on the way down.

Look for more guys processing out of the program. Would expect to see Kyle Trout graduate and then pursue a graduate transfer to Cincy--that way he doesn't have to sit out a season of football.

What a lot of people do not know is that the NFL only allows school to submit five players for evaluations in the upcoming draft. So there are a lot of politics that go into who the five players are when the time comes---especially when a school like Ohio State has so many possibilities. Some kids were not allowed to submit, as they weren't part of "the five"--and that doesn't sit well with everyone --- End result is you have a kid like Noah Brown go out when he should have stayed.

Ohio State's approach to the playoff game this year was curious. Way more physical than in the past--had three scrimmages the last week alone. Didn't seem like the team ever recovered from that and looked tired. Case in point would be Jerome Baker who was expected to have a key part in the defense. Barely played in the second half and had to be stretchered out of the locker room post game. I think Meyer mis-calculated on this one.

QB competition after next year will be fascinating to see. Good thing JT is returning for another season as it will allow all of the "next guys" to have a fair shot at starting. Martell is going to be special---but Haskins is something else as well. Dwayne has a lot going for him and its fun to watch him kneel on the 40 yard line and throw it sixty yards into the end zone. Kid has a cannon...

Love Demario McCall but he needs to put on about 15 pounds in the offseason. Has special speed and lateral movement, just needs to get bigger. Is working hard at it---so I expect to see a bigger, faster, stronger version out there next season

Name you don't hear a lot is a guy that I love is TUF BORLAND. Hits like a mack truck out there and is my favorite to man the MIKE next season. Now keep in mind that we are only playing with three linebackers about 30 % of the time---as we face so much spread. But when teams want to line up and pound us? Borland is the guy I want in there

Branden Bowen is coming along on the offensive line. Was a little concerned about the kid, but he is starting to show signs of being a "dude". Its a good thing, as the offensive line depth is a little suspect right now---so his emergence is fortuitous....

Bin Victor will be an absolute star here. So much to like about this young man. Can go up and high point the ball and still has the speed to run by you. Look for him to have a huge year next season and beyond. Him and Haskins work out one on one all the time, so they have a special type of chemistry that you don't see all the time

Dre'Mont Jones is another kid that is poised for a break out season. Fully healthy and just a load to deal with. He's someone who will play in the NFL someday--and the only reason that his numbers will be down is the plethora of talent around him. Big time player

Have spoken a lot about Nick Bosa in the past--but his talent is just jaw dropping. Had a better defensive efficiency rating than brother Joey and made an impact everytime he was on the field. His only challenge was being placed at the "three technique" at 265 lbs. Had a tendency to get pin balled a little bit as a result--but will be a monster here and at the next level

Staff is much higher on Josh Meyers than the recruiting pundits. Ignore how he did in the one on one drills. Kid is a player--and will leave Ohio State as a really good one. Has the work ethic to make up for his lack of experiences as a pass blocker. We've had some misses in offensive line recruiting in recent years. This isn't one of them

As high as staff is on Meyers, its nothing compared to how they feel about Jeffrey Okudah. Absolutely a "three and done" type of talent---so you better kid this kid on the field as soon as you can.....enjoy him while he is here...."
