Hey everyone, so I have alot of family in Kentucky, and some ties to a certain KY big sports radio and political figure, he provided some updates on potential NIL regulation that he is hearing has some actual traction, and he got to read the in-progress Bill, here are some features:
- One time transfer allowed, for 2nd time, committee of coaches will evaluate your reason for transferring.
- Each school will establish an official “collective” and it will have to register and disclose all deals/payments, and each conference will set a “cap” for the collectives
- Players will still be allowed to make secondary NIL deals with businesses and endorsement opportunities (original idea for NIL)
- Bill is also intended to provide an amendment avenue for if schools then start to have to share revenue directly with athletes
Apparently NCAA and Congress set aside the NIL carnival shouters like Tuberville and went to some behind the scenes Congressional shakers who ACTUALLY get things done and aren’t the ones on TV and looking for publicity. Bill is meant to control the NIL collectives primarily and shed some light on what they’re doing.
