I am a bit confused about what an OC does. I would think he would oversee all aspects of the offense thereby requiring someone who was familiar with all aspects. I would also assume he would call the plays like Knowles does on D. Of all the internal candidates I'd say Frye is the most qualified being a line coach and having held the job under Chip Kelly.
IF Day doesn't give up the play calling he seems like the most likely guy to me because I can't see an outside experienced OC taking the job sans play calling responsibilities. I get the sentiment that Hartline is the best choice but I don't know if he has the overall experience to do the job especially if Day wants to give up play calling. I also don't like the co-coordinator idea. Someone has to be responsible. Thoughts?
