I keep hearing people defend Jim Harbaugh by saying that the fan and media expectations for him at Michigan are unrealistic. Who set those expectations? Who declared his team the best in the B1G at media days and then went 6-3 in conference play? Who demanded to be literally the highest paid coach in college football at the time of his hiring? Did he promise the administration that he would not win a championship, not make the playoffs, not win the B1G title, not win the B1G East or beat Ohio State in 5 years?
There are probably 15-20 coaches that could win 9-10 games a year at Michigan. Just cause two historically bad hires made it look difficult doesn’t mean that it actually is.
