I know everyone wants to see 8 or 16 teams. More teams, more money, March Madness feel.
The truth of the matter is there’s no need to have more than 4 teams. There’s not one year I’d suggest there were 8 legit contenders. Just as at the lower divisions it’s pretty much chalk.
All an extended playoff does is increase the chance someone with NFL potential gets hurt and losses draft status. I don’t need to see LSU beat the 16th and 8th team in December. Nor would I want to see a banged up Fields play 2 additional games after the Big 10 Championship game. Football isn’t a basketball or baseball where one or two players can change a game and make a run.
I hope they keep it at 4 and keep the regular season relevant.
