Very limited look at today's first practice, which in itself wasn't much of a practice as the pads aren't on yet. Nonetheless did observe a few things from this morning's action....

- Always a lot of excitement the first day of practice. Guys were out there going hard through drills and being coached hard. Camp is a grind, but there is always big-time energy that first day, everyone is excited to get to work. Very energetic and fast paced first day.

- KJ Hill, Demario McCall, Jaelen Gill, and CJ Saunders worked at punt return during special teams period.

- McCall and Steele Chambers with the running backs. That is not surprising but just worth noting that Demario is definitely working with the RB's right now and that Chambers will indeed get his first crack on offense.

- Really liked what I saw out of the receivers in drills. Olave and Wilson continue to impress me with how sharp they are with their cuts and how explosive they are getting out of their breaks and just how naturally they catch the football. Jaelen Gill is noticeably bigger which is important since he'll be working at that H spot which generally takes a lot of contact. I've always been captain of the Jaelen Gill Bandwagon but I really do think he has a chance to make major contributions this fall.

- We didn't get to see the QB's do too much, and what we did get to see was on the far end of the field so the sight lines weren't great. That said, Fields looked very much the sharpest of the group as you would expect/hope. Made some nice throws (against air) and the ball wasn't hitting the ground during his reps. Wasn't always the case for the rest of the crew who didn't place it as accurately in the very short window we got to watch them throw with the receivers.
