While it is almost time for high school basketball season in Ohio, COVID-19 has began to surge once again, forcing Akron City Schools to cancel high school basketball this season.

While there has been no official release on the matter yet, I was informed of the decision roughly 15 minutes ago from a very reliable scout in the Northeast Ohio area who runs a scouting service with more than 50 Division I schools subscribed.

Akron Buchtel, home of 2022 Buckeye target and No.3 player in the country Chris Livingston, is affected by this cancellation. Livingston spent his freshman season at Buchtel before playing at Western Reserve Academy for his sophomore campaign, however, he moved back to Buchtel prior to this season. The current rumor is that due to this cancellation, Livingston will pack his bags once again and transfer to Spire Academy in Geneva (Ohio).

LaMelo Ball, the potential number one pick in the upcoming NBA draft, spent his junior year at Spire.
