We recently bought an Ohio Buckeye tree from Oakland Nursuries and they came out and planted it a few weeks ago. It gets evening shade and morning and afternoon sun, as I’ve seen recommended by others, but there are a couple branches that almost seem snapped, but not quite ... they are hanging down, one branch has since died after an attempt to prop it back up with grafting tape and some twine when it still seemed very alive ... the other seems still alive but is drooping ... it’s a relatively young tree and I noticed that both problem branches were the two that were growing Buckeyes on them ... at first I thought the planters broke the branches on the way here from Oakland, but then I noticed both were the only two with Buckeyes on them ... are the Buckeyes too heavy for the young branches? Is a squirrel breaking these branches trying to get to the Buckeyes? Or am I thinking too much and something is actually just wrong with the tree? Or is this normal for young Buckeye trees to struggle with the weight of the Buckeyes on them in their early years? I have some picture that I will post in the thread below, any help/guidance will be much appreciated ...
