I'd guess Coach Day and Buckeye Nation have already seen enough of a porous defense the last couple of years. There will need to be a major overhaul of the defensive staff, even if there is a miraculous improvement during the remainder of this season. Ohio State recruits too much talent to be ranked 100th on defense. Elite players coming in expect and deserve coaches capable of preparing them for the next level. Ohio State needs to set the standard. Currently, opponents own this defense. Buckeye Nation wants a defense that compliments the high-powered offense. Begin the search for that elite defensive coordinator that is always two-steps ahead of the opponent's offense.
Chances are, Ohio State will have a very different defensive coaching staff in 2022
