This makes Dabo the highest paid CFB coach (no word as to whether this changes his opinion on NIL) and ties him to Clemson long-term. Should the university decide to do the unthinkable and fire him without cause, Dabo's buyout starts out at $64 million and gradually decreases over the course of the contract.
Dabo's personal buyout, on the other hand, is fairly low, starting at $6 million and decreasing from there. An interesting note- Dabo does not pay Clemson a buyout if he leaves to become an NFL head coach. On an unrelated note, I hear the Carolina Panthers might need a new coach soon...
Also, it would appear that the constant rumors of Dabo succeeding Saban once the latter retires are being taken seriously by the Clemson University board, as his personal buyout if he leaves to become the head coach at Bama is 50% higher than if he goes anywhere else.
