Spoke to the Fourth Wiseman--who is "closest" to the team and has really good insight to all things sidelines and team related...

"Couple of interesting things to observe about Coach Day. First one is his incredible attention to detail. You have to understand that the games are all videoed, broken down, graded and brought to the head coach in a consolidated fashion--to make it easy for him to comment on player performance or situational awareness...

what so fascinating about Day is by the time the summary is delivered to him, he already has 40-50 plays that he has made individual notes or taken notice of things he saw in real time...all without the benefit of a game film..
in other words, this is all coming off the top of his head--and from the sideline--which is a notoriously bad place for keen observation on the game

its unlike anything I've ever seen before--or frankly anyone in the program has ever seen before....

its one thing to notice things from the press box and make notes and comments...

its totally another to do it while coaching and calling plays--from the sideline...

you are talking about someone with a crazy high intellectual capacity...

Secondly, I found in amazing how he dealt with the slow start yesterday. A lot of guys would have ranted and raved---or tried to change things up.

Day did none of this. Theme for the team is "TOUGH ---LOVE"

He met with both lines and gave them a quick speech...told them he loved them, but they were about to see the "Tough" side if they didn't go out on the next possession and seize control of the game...

Instant response....

he has really connected with this group...."
