Egbuka's parents provide several updates on their son's recruitment
It's been a while since I've had a few updates on five-star wide receiver Emeka Egbuka, but I just heard some interesting things from his parents.
The first thing I was told came from Rhonda Olgivie, Egbuka's mother. When asked when Egbuka will announce his final decision, Olgivie responded by saying, "Keeping my fingers crossed for early signing day Dec. 16!" She said she's personally just hoping for a decision to be made by then, so this is far from a locked in date.
This is not entirely surprising as the top-ranked wideout on Rivals had initially planned on signing and enrolling early, with the recent extension of the dead period not affecting his timeline.
To add to this even more, Egbuka's father, Henry Egbuka, told me a little bit more about where things currently stand with his son.
He said that Egbuka is now down to a top three of Ohio State, Oklahoma and Washington. If you recall, Egbuka had released a top schools list in May that included Clemson along with the trio of programs mentioned in the previous sentence, but the Tigers have been eliminated from contention.
Henry also told me that Egbuka intends on visiting Oklahoma prior to making his final decision. He did not say when that visit would occur, but there are only three weekends left until the beginning of the Early Signing Period.
I'm still leaning toward the Buckeyes, but going to Norman could push the Sooners over the edge if the family and him are impressed by the visit. To my knowledge, there are no plans to return to Columbus as Egbuka checked out the school twice in 2019 and has seen everything he's needed to see from the program.
I am continuing to do some digging and may add more to this thread, but I wanted to put this up sooner rather than later. I also reached out to JT Tuimoloau's relatives to see if there is an updated commitment timeline for him, so keep an eye out for any info on the fellow five-star out of the state of Washington.
Stay tuned to BuckeyeGrove.
