Many of you over 30 probably remember Chris Sanders, who caught passes from Bobby Hoying and others before moving on to the NFL as a third round pick of the then-Oilers. He had.a very productive career, including catching Steve McNair’s first TD and once leading the league in YPC. But, per The Athletic, his place in the record books is much more dubious:
With four career carries for -36 yards, Mr. Sanders has the FEWEST rushing yards of anyone in league history since the merger. The guys right after him on the list are mostly punters who presumably got tackled after fielding errant long snaps.
Anyway, a reporter at The Athletic called him up and there’s a pretty funny transcript available for those who subscribe. Sanders blames Jason Taylor for stopping him behind the line on reverses before he could even get started upfield.
