What a difference a week can make. šŸ˜

  • The offensive line was way better than I thought it would be. Yes, Abdul Carter beat Donovan Jackson a few times, but that's gonna happen against an early first-round draft pick. This was my biggest concern (and everyone else's), but the effort was really good against a great defensive front.
  • Did Hinzman play basically the entire game? I was surprised they went that route but I didn't notice him at all (which is a great thing for OL).
  • Will Howard did cost Ohio State about 14 points today. The interception was bad, but I didn't like the play at all. It seemed like everyone knew what was coming. I won't fault him too much on the fumble. He had the ball in the correct hand and the defender just made a great play.
  • Howard was up and down today, but the people who were calling for Sayin in the first half are beyond silly.
  • He threw a bad ball to Tate but the one deep ball to Jeremiah looked good to me. Not sure if Smith lost it in the sun or what.
  • I liked seeing the running backs helping out and chipping on Carter.
  • The ground game was significantly better than it was against Nebraska. Great job by Judkins and Henderson.
  • I didn't love the pick six play design, but I thought Chip put together a fine showing. The TD pass to Inniss was a beautiful play. They had Inniss, Rodgers, and Ballard on the field for that one. Crazy.
  • This wasn't an ideal time to see some bad snaps, but fortunately McLaughlin got them out of his system early in the game.
  • LOVED the run blocking on that last fourth quarter drive.
  • Huge balls on that play-action 4th down pass to Jelani. PSU actually had a great play call to defend the initial read, but Will just made a play. And Jelani nearly gave me a heart attack.
  • Again, major props to Justin Frye and the offensive line.

  • Caleb Downs was my player of the game. He seemed to be following Tyler Warren and basically shut him down when doing so. Warren got loose in the fourth but most of that came on a great catch against Lathan and some plays with him in the backfield. Downs is such a great tackler. Wild that we get another year out of him.
  • The Davison Igbinosun interception was the biggest momentum-changing play of the season. He can be frustrating at times, but that was a ridiculous play.
  • Overall I thought the secondary played an amazing game. Nice bounce-back for Denzel Burke as well. PSU wideouts aren't good but they were invisible today.
  • Loved seeing back-to-back sacks.
  • Did not love seeing the Jack Sawyer missed sack early in the game.
  • GREAT work in the redzone.
  • I didn't notice anything particularly bad by the linebackers or defensive line. I assume they were solid but I'll pay more attention on rewatch. Loved seeing Cody get the sack.
  • Props to Fielding for making his FGs today. That second one had me a bit scared though.
  • And MAJOR props to the entire team for bouncing back after going down 10-0 early in one of the toughest places to play.
