I wanted to take a moment to address some upcoming changes. Yes, we are seeing a shift in our staffing and want to thank everyone that had been a part of this site for the past years continued success in their future endeavors. This is not a post about dwelling on the past however and what the exciting future of BuckeyeGrove holds.
We already feel that we have the greatest Ohio State community here on the internet and our commitment to maintaining the community and bringing the best Ohio State content out there has not lessened one bit. If anything, we are even more energized to make this your one-stop for all things Ohio State.
With that, we are welcoming three new staff members to this site and while I will let each of them introduce themselves individually, I will take a moment to say that we went through a very thorough hiring process to bring these three new staff members here to the site.
Our new staff team writer Griffin Strom is a recent Ohio State graduate and served in the role as sports editor of The Lantern during his senior season. I had a chance all last season to read Strom’s work and watch him mature into a terrific sports journalist. The addition of this team writer position will bring you more of the outstanding Ohio State team content that you have been looking for. The move will also allow me to diversify some of my daily duties to other aspects within running the website.
Dave Lackford will assume the role as our recruiting editor. I have known Dave for many years and have watched him move up from his role of leading the charge at our Florida Varsity site and then working with several Power Five sites over recent years. His passion and enthusiasm are unmatched and I am excited to see what he will be able to bring to the best recruiting beat in the nation. Over the past couple of weeks, Dave and I have been talking about what makes covering the Ohio State recruiting beat so unique and I truly believe that everyone here will grow to love Dave’s no-nonsense style of coverage and the quality and quantity of his coverage.
We are also welcoming Joseph Hastings into a recruiting coverage role as well. Hastings will be graduating from the University of Florida after the summer term. His proximity in the Southeast will give us someone on the ground with a short car trip to many of Ohio State’s top targets within the region and we feel that will offer an added amount of “on the ground” coverage.
And of course, we will be welcoming our annual crop of interns as we get a little further into the summer, really giving us the largest roster of content-producing staffers that we have ever had.
Now, that does not mean that we are looking to move to a “content mill” approach on this site. We will just have more quality coverage than we have ever had and that is something that has me extremely excited to report.
So much of this really starts and ends with our tremendous community, something that you are all a part of. We spend so much time working internally with our community that we don’t do a great job externally in growing the site. While our goal is to grow the site, you have my word that we are not going to change our community one bit in terms of our commitment to putting you first. You will see all of our new staff members with a community-first approach and their engagement will be second to none.
We want to have those open channels of communication that everyone has come to expect and as we start to transition closer to a return of sports, the virus threads and other related topics will start to draw to a close and be replaced by actual sports content, something that we have come to expect.
