Per release:
COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State offensive lineman Harry Miller today was announced as one of 93 players on the Wuerffel Trophy Watch List. The Wuerffel Trophy honors college football players who serve others, celebrate their positive impact on society, and inspire greater service in the world.
Semifinalists for the award will be announced on November 2 and finalists will be announced on November 22. The formal announcement of the 2021 recipient will be made on December 9 and the presentation of the 2021 Wuerffel Trophy will occur in February 2022 in Fort Walton Beach, Fla.
The last – and only – Buckeye to win the award was Joel Penton, who was honored in 2005. Bryce Hayes was Ohio State’s last finalist for the award in 2014.
Miller, a true junior who started all seven games that he played in last season, is a mechanical engineering major who in 2020-21 was named a Big Ten Distinguished Scholar for having a grade-point average of 3.70 or better. Just as well documented as his efforts as a scholar and an athlete are his community service endeavors. Consider:
Miller has been involved in mission trips to Nicaragua since high school.
Over the past seven years, he’s made nearly a dozen trips to Nicaragua and sometimes has brought teammates with him
He is currently serving as a board member at Mission 4 Nicaragua, a nonprofit organization that operates a school and distributes food and medicine to less fortunate families in Los Brasiles.
He’s raised over $1,000 for Mission 4 Nicaragua through the sale of t-shirts, sweatshirts and baseball caps
Earlier this month, Miller was announced as a nominee for the Allstate AFCA Good Works Team
A first-year starter at left guard in 2020, Miller helped the Buckeyes finish eighth nationally in rushing offense (256.7 yards/game) and seventh in total offense (519.4 yards/game).
