Spoke to the Third Wiseman of OSU football and got this nugget...

"Ohio State really feels like they landed a gem in Simmons---and had him ranked #2 in the state of Michigan on their board for the coming year(only behind Donovan People-Jones).

Michigan's recruiting tactics on Simmons really seemed to have back-fired on this one as they have been slow playing him for a long time, and giving him the impression that they were "doing him a favor" by even recruiting him.

Harbaugh even had gone as far to tell him at one point that he "needed to see more from him his senior year" before they would extend him an (committable) offer. And that "once they offered, they expected a quick commit in return"

Totally alienated the kid, and when they tried to turn up the heat recently it was too late.

Don't think for a second that the commitment---with Harbaugh down in Florida holding his IMG academy practice---was coincidental.

OSU is selling the fact that Michigan has seemingly totally abandoned their home recruiting base in an effort to go "national" to great effect. And it is turning off a ton of high school recruits and coaches to the Wolverines.

Huge mistake IMHO.

There is a reason that Urban Meyer makes sure not to ignore Ohio. As at the end of the day you can be a national program, but you have to get the cream of the crop from "home".

Harbaugh is totally ignoring that age old wisdom."
