Kerry Coombs' first statement when asked how he's handling the transition to the coaching box and is something else.

Here's what he had to say.

"Obviously, this has been the hardest stretch of my professional career, which teams you that I have had a pretty good career. If this is the hardest stretch, then life isn’t going to be too bad.

"We serve a powerful and wonderful God and that my friends and family that have shared with me scriptures like James 1:2 and Philippians 1:27 or Romans 8:28 have continues to lift me up and allow me to try to be a worthy man, a man of strength.

"The handling of it is a work in progress, but I would also tell you this… handling it in a different fashion, picking up your ball and going home, kicking the can down the road, quitting, packing your stuff up, being a miserable human being, if I had done any of those things, that would make me a liar to every one of those kids I have coached along the way that had tough times and got replaced on a Saturday or a Friday night or a Sunday afternoon and had to have the conversation of: ‘Hang in there, it’s going to be OK,’ whether they agreed with the decision or not. It didn’t matter. You have to battle and fight through those players, those young men who struggle with the public criticism and the things that are out there in the world today. If you want to look at them in the eye and say, ‘You need to hang in there…’ If you are not willing to stand up and do the same thing, then you are a liar to all those people along life’s journey.

"It’s easy to be a brother when it’s 66-17 on a Saturday afternoon. It’s hard to be a brother when you face adversity. It’s hard. If you’re here for the other men on this team — the players and the other coaches on this team — if that’s truly what you believe, then you are in come heck or high water. You are here to fight, to struggle, to scrap. I love those kids. I love those kids in that locker room. I love those kids on that team. I love the men in that locker room and I love Ohio State. And I’m going to be here. I’m going to be fighting, battling, scratching and clawing for the remainder of this season to win every freaking Saturday. Thats what’s I’m going to do. Whether or not I like everything or how everything went, it has nothing to do with it. It’s got to do with you have a job to do. You have to look people in the eye and you say hopefully, some day down the road, some young man who faces trouble or adversity down the road can remember an example of a man who tried to lead with positive energy in the midst of adversity. If I can do that, then I will have accomplished my goal, as long as I continue to progress and win on Saturday afternoon."

Also said Mike Vrabel, Mike Tomlin and Dick LeBeau reached out to him after the transition.
