Just a quick background I have been covering Illinois prep football and recruiting for the past 20 years and have been watching Tuf Borland since his freshman season at Bolingbrook.

Overall? One of the most advanced high school linebackers I've seen in many years and Borland I've fought for on more than one occasion when it comes to rankings and stars.

Like many of you I also figured Borland was a lock for Wisconsin yet I also had a feeling Ohio State made a strong late impression. Borland came back from his recent Ohio State visit, told off off the record he was close and wanted to shut it all down for a few days before making a college choice.

So what is Borland all about? I guess the best way I can describe him is he comes off as a serious student of the game and reminds me of a coaches kid type of recruit. Borland, who's father played for Wisconsin and uncle is now a coach at Buffalo after being a D coordinator for D3 football power Wisconsin Whitewater has serious bloodline and just a terrific love and passion for the game. His overall knowledge and smarts on and off the field are impressive.

Borland has been a multi-sport athlete at Bolingbrook up until this past year. Borland still plays baseball and also played basketball his freshman and sophomore year. Meaning? Meaning whatever gains he's made up until now in the weight room he's basically run off, so look for Borland to have the potential to gain easily another 10-15 pounds plus at the college level and still maintain speed.

I see him as more of an inside backer yet can also see him staying outside if needed. Borland has terrific instincts, can cover backs and has just an exceptional feel for making the right read. Borland is also a fundamentally sound tackler who plays for one of the better Class 8A (largest enrollment) programs in Illinois.

Bottom line? To me has has a chance to become a multi-year starter type, even at The Ohio State University. He's a kid who will handle himself on and off the field exceptionally well, will go to class and will be a team first.

Borland has a quiet demeanor, isn't a big time talker but just brings it to the field play after play.

You'll love this kid.
