Per an OHSAA release that I just received, the Ohio High School Football Playoffs will expand from eight teams per region to 12 per region starting in 2021.
This will add an extra week to the postseason, as the top four seeds in each region will get a bye.
The release also mentions that the scheduled weekend for the 2021 state championships will remain the same so it would appear that they are just going to start the regular season a week earlier to accommodate this.
I was a little torn because I'm anti-everyone gets a trophy, but this creates more evaluation opportunities for me so I'm in favor of it selfishly.
