Buckeye Brethren:

You all have indulged me in sharing my son's triumphs as a musician in the past, so I have one final one for you. Today, my son became one of the rare students in the annals of the Texas All-State Choir auditions process to secure a spot in a Texas All-State Choir for a fourth consecutive year.

The middle of February will mark the fourth time he has had the opportunity to spend the better part of a week working in San Antonio with a world-class choral clinician with some of the best high school singers in the state of Texas.

The process to make one of these choirs is highly competitive. My son's division starts off with approximately 4000 students auditioning in round one, and only 80 earn a spot in the choir. The dedication that he brings to his preparation is remarkable. He is never told to practice. It has become a part of his daily regimen.

He does this while also maintaining a 3.8 GPA, being an All-District DL in football, and major contributor on a defending state championship basketball team. I am a proud dad and believe in the future of our society when I look at my boy.

He will audition at my university in three weeks to be a music major. I cannot describe how it feels to know I will have a vital hand in the development of my son's career aspirations. Thank you for allowing me to share with you.

PS -- He wears Scarlet and Gray to school on a near daily basis in the heart of UT, Tech, A &M, and OU country ;) GO BUCKS!!!
