What do you guys think about the new NFL proposals?
- Dropping Pre-Season to 3 games
- Adding a 17th game
- Adding 1 wild card team to each conference
- Only 1 team receives first round bye
To me, the only people happy or who care about the reduction in pre-season games are the Season Ticket holders forced to pay for ALL the pre-season games to buy season tickets. The more and more players aren't playing in them anyways, the starters at least. And if a 17th game is added, I think even less would play to save them for the regular season.
Adding the 17th game seems like a signal that every team will play an International game. Its the fair way to do it, avoiding giving teams more home/away games. Either half play in Mexico, half in London, or incorporate Toronto and maybe Brazil or Paris/Berlin?
Not a fan of bringing in 8-8 or 7-9 teams for the wild card, think it's pretty perfect as it is. Only change I'd make is winning division gets you in, home field is decided by record.
I feel like it's unnecessary money grab moves, but I'll watch.
If the players agree to adding 2 more games a year for nearly half the teams, and at least 1 more for all the teams, I really don't want to hear them complaining about CTE. Especially since the league has done little to protect the players most vulnerable (OL/DL, RB, LBers).
