OK,
So, I am at the SFA homecoming Saturday afternoon against McNeese state. I am waking along, looking for my son (who had already arrived), and walk past a guy who says, "GO BUCKS! O-H!" He then points to an Ohio State sock cap. I responded with the appropriate, "I-O!" and asked if he was from Ohio.
He said, "No, my son just finished there last year. You know who Kendall Sheffield is?" WOW!
We walked and talked a little bit. Kendall is starting for the Falcons tomorrow, so they were heading back to the Houston area to catch a flight tomorrow morning to Atlanta.
He talked about how devastated they all were when Coombs left for the NFL. He said Taver Johnson was an awful football coach. He was glad to see Arnette playing so well.
He said Kendall really thought hard about staying to improve his draft status, but Meyer said he had no idea who Day was going to hire as a DB coach, so he encouraged him to go. "It probably cost Kendall some dollars, but he is doing ok anyway."
Finally, the question that was looming had to be asked, "Why in the world are you at SFA's homecoming game?" His answer, "My baby boy, Jakobe, plays DB for SFA. They are going to be really good next year with this coach."
This is a novel compared to what I normally write, but a mere paragraph for @texanbuckeye and @Tom58 , so I am ok, I guess. LOL I just thought it was something really cool that some of you guys would be interested in hearing about. Of all the places, NACOGDOCHES, TEXAS to meet the parent of a Buckeye!
