I made an appointment at the IRS office today to go over my taxes to make sure I wasn't screwing up. Everything is completely different this year. I get there and have all my paper work and questions written out. Suffice it to say I knew infinitely more than the IRS guy did. He was NO help. Zip. Zero. Nada. It was like talking to one of those call centers that outsource overseas.
So after about the 3rd question and he kept referring to this manual and started reading from it, I informed him that everything he was reading I had already seen on the IRS website. And as nicely as I could I asked if he knew what he was doing or knew what I was talking about. He looked at me and said that he hadn't even looked at his own taxes yet and just bought the new Turbo Tax software the other day. I said wait... you work for the IRS as an employee who answers peoples questions and assist them in filing their taxes, but you use Turbo Tax to do your own?
I asked him for a copy of that manual. He gave me one, I wished him a good day, and left.
