I don't do this often, as to not impose upon others very frequently, but I chose to do another JDRF Walk for Diabetes this year (in Dayton). It's been about a decade since I bothered to fundraise like this because I don't like to make my problems become the problems of my friends and family. Especially since I can live with this disease quite normally if I take care of myself and everyone has their own issues and needs.
That said, the son of one of our best friends was recently diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes. They are devastated and are still in the early stages of adapting to a new "normal." What makes me want to inspire them and give them hope is that I was diagnosed at the age of 13, which was scary enough for me and my family, but to think about a kid like Mason (that's his name) who is only 2 years old...well, that is much more overwhelming for his parents, and certainly him as well.
So here I am, asking once and only once, for those of you willing to contribute a little bit to our goal, please click on this link and make a donation. Sure, it is asking for money, but more importantly in my opinion, it is showing support for a little boy and his scared parents that they are not alone in this fight and that there is reason for hope.
There is no reason to feel pressured to do so, we're all friends here when it comes down to it and only those who feel inspired to contribute should do it.
Thanks again,
ForeverBuckeye
