Was having an interesting discussing on what The Ohio State Football Team would bring, dollar wise, on the open market.
Advantages over a NFL Team
Payroll - The players basically pay for free
Fan Base - Built in loyalty with state pride, alumni, and a national name brand
Attendance - No NFL comes close to an avg attendance of over 100,000
Merchandise Sales - Would venture to say Buckeyes sell as much, or more merchandise, then most NFL Teams.
Disadvantage
National TV Revenue - and this is a HUGE disadvantage, in my opinion.
All in all, I would put the value at or above the Bengals and Browns, but below the marquee NFL Brands, such as The Dallas Cowboys.
If the over/under was 1 billion - I would say OVER, slightly...
thoughts?
