The impact that it has had on OSU and now other schools trying to copy it is just simply amazing. I’m pretty sure it was Urban’s idea and it was an incredible one. It’s all about preparing student athletes for the real world. Preparing players to play professionally is great but football comes and goes. This program in particular has been a great success and could even go to every sport at OSU. I’m impressed with how much investment and importance OSU has put into their various sports programs but also taking great care of the student athletes. A lot of money is spent which is why I don’t think they should be paid. The football players get the best of everything and really shouldn’t need money for anything. Not every school can do it like OSU. The whole paying players argument is moot to me when you see how much money the athletic department spends which was a little over 200 mil last year. School is paid for, housing paid for, best S&C, best physical therapy, best medical center, best coaching, and most importantly you get to make a name for yourself using the OSU brand. That alone you can use for the rest of your life. The football program is very strong right now. It’s light years from what it was back in the Tressel days. Day literally has all the tools to succeed at his disposal.
