In a tweet posted just a few minutes ago, Florida-based defensive back Ryan Turner revealed that he has made his way up to Columbus for a visit.
I have confirmed that with Turner himself, and he actually told me that he will be staying in town all the way until Sunday. This is Turner's first time making it up to Ohio since reeling in an offer from the Buckeyes in early February.
Kerry Coombs, Matt Barnes and the rest of the staff have been pressing all the right buttons in Turner's recruitment over these past few weeks. Contact is consistent with the 20th-ranked cornerback on Rivals, and Turner even told Rivals.com's Chad Simmons earlier this month that the program is in his top three, along with Boston College and Clemson.
This is what Turner had to say to Simmons when talking about why Ohio State is standing out to him.
“Really, Coach Barnes. Coach Coombs, too. That’s my guy," Turner said of why the Buckeyes are catching his attention. "He’s been in the game for a long time, and you know a guy who’s been in the game and been in the league, they know how to progress people well because they’ve been everywhere. Him and Coach Barnes, they’re nice.”
We are looking to schedule an interview with him, and will have an update shortly after Turner's visit concludes or as it approaches its end.
