The explosive plays allowed by this scheme are clearly not ideal... At the same time, OSU held Penn State to 30 points below their season average with timely negative plays.
I'm on the fence a bit. I like betting on the players to get their jobs done, but I also agree that if a player loses his one on one matchup, this type of defense doesn't allow for much in the way for other defensive players to make up the gap.
The defense seems to be improving from week to week, but we can't keep giving up huge plays.
Any thoughts?
