What's up guys! Stopping by from the national team.
I was out to see Ohio State LB commit Payton Pierce last night in his final regular season game. It was for the district title against the top team in the classification, so it was a big one. And Pierce more than showed up.
He ran a touchdown for the first points of the game in the first quarter. Lovejoy likes to use Pierce in packages at short-yardage RB and wildcat QB situations, and he often succeeds in that role. He's not afraid to initiate the contact on either side of the ball.
Defensively, Pierce reminded everybody in attendance how good he is when he's fully healthy. The Rivals250 LB struggled with injuries as a junior but he was all over the field on Thursday night. Getting after the QB, blowing up plays in the backfield, dropping back in coverage, you name it. He took over that game and was a primary reason why Melissa, who entered the game at 9-0, only scored one touchdown.
Just wanted to pass along some thoughts after seeing him live. Ohio State is getting a really good one and Pierce told me he's eager to get up to Columbus
