Luke Pletcher was the #1 seed at 141 for the NCAA tournament this year as a Senior and lost out on his chance to be a National Champ ( the exact same scenario for SR and #1 seed Kollin Moore). Well Luke joined the Pitt coaching staff and is wrestling for the Pittsburgh Wrestling Club Training Center. If Luke had won his National Title he would have automatically been qualified for the Olympic Trials, he will will still have an opportunity to qualify himself for the olympic trials for 2021 down the road but for now he is keeping himself sharp.
Luke will be competing in the Rumble on the Rooftop in Chicago on June 28th a wrestling showcase highlighted by the Jordan Oliver vs Jason Nolf match. But Luke will be on the undercard probably the best match of the rest vs Iowa's Pat Lugo. Pat was a senior as well and the #1 seed for NCAA's at 149 who also never got to realize his dream. Should be a great match up and be streamed live on FiteTV for 19.99
It has also just been announced that he will be wrestling on Flo on July 25th. The main event for that event will be Kyle Dake vs Frank Chamizo, Dake has won back to back world titles at a non-Olympic weight and Chamizo has won 2 world titles, a world silver, as well as Olympic and World Bronze. They are 2 of the best P4P wrestlers in the world. They are also two of the greatest defensive wrestlers in the world and should be an unbelievable matchup. There are two other matches as world champ David Taylor will take on Pat Downey who represented us at Worlds this past year as Taylor was injured. The 3rd match will again be Ohio State's Luke Pletcher taking on Anthony Ashnault from Rutgers. Ash beat Ohio State's Micah Jordan in the NCAA finals last year. I have to say Pletcher is going to be extremely undersized in this match as Ash had wrestled as 70kg recently. But will still be fun to watch.
