I realize this probably isn’t a very exciting topic to most...
Just wondering if anyone has any insight on our specialty player scholarship numbers going forward with Liam McCullough leaving as a senior and Chrisman and Haubeil being seniors next season.
We took Seibert in the 2020 class (presumably as a preferred walk-on during Fall 2020), so that is pretty straightforward — he would take over for Haubeil and his scholarship clock would start in 2021.
Walk-on longsnappers coming back in 2020 include Roen McCullough (So), Phillip Thomas (Jr) and Bradley Robinson (Jr). Would the starting LS earn a scholarship before/after the upcoming season?
Then at Punter, we could either recruit one for the 2021 class or groom a current walk-on to take over for Chrisman next season (Zach Hoover, Jr, or Michael O’Shaughnessy, Fr), whether on scholarship for his first year as starter or not.
We have had at least 3 specialty players on scholarship over each of the past 4 seasons, but it seems that trend is unlikely continue (at least for 2020). Just looking to see if anyone has any thoughts.
