Student Appreciation Day Practice Set for March 23
Event typically draws a couple thousand students to the Woody to watch practice
COLUMBUS, Ohio–The Ohio State football program will once again invite current Ohio State University students to attend a student appreciation day practice this spring, the seventh time in the last eight years that a practice has been opened up to honor and thank the students on campus. This year’s student-centered day, presented by Meijer, will be Saturday, March 23.
“The Ohio State students represent the most passionate and loyal fan bases in all of college football,” first-year Ohio State head coach Ryan Day said, “and the players and the members of this program want to thank them for their support. I can’t wait to meet our students on the field afterward, and I can’t wait for our students to meet the players and to greet the new members of our staff.”
Doors at the Woody Hayes Athletic Center will open at 11 a.m. Details are still being worked out, but there will be free food provided by Meijer; there will be photo areas with Brutus Buckeye and Rose Bowl and Big Ten championship trophies; there will be lots of music; and there will be opportunities for the students to engage with their Buckeyes, including an autograph and photo session afterward.
Ohio State will kick off its first spring drills under the direction Day on Wednesday, March 6. A second practice will be held Friday, March 8 before a week-long hiatus the week of March 11-15 for spring break. Practices will resume Tuesday, March 19 and continue for the next four weeks leading up to the spring game April 13.
The student appreciation day practice will be practice No. 5 for the team.
