I almost just copied and pasted last week's post, since this game is pretty much a carbon copy.
Opponent is weaker, which is hard to believe. But we are on the road and it is 1 week closer to crunch time.
It'd be forgivable, if the Bucks took their eye off the ball. But I don't see it.
Day has established a rhythm for the weaker opponents, the team has bought in and the weather is supposed to be cold and clear with a breeze 13 Mph max.
Day will have a plan to attack the Knight's weak areas, which is mostly everything, on offense and I think the D will play with a "free Chase" chip on their shoulder.
The Knights are 124th by the combined FEI and SP+. Oh my that's bad. Miami OH is 90th to put that stink stat in perspective.
My only concern is whether the game gets so sloppy the potential for injury increases, and whether Rutgers goes full sandlot in which case we don't even get a scrimmage out of the trip.
How it ends up
So long as no one gets hurt and we can play the 2nd team for most, if not all of H2, I'll declare a massive victory.
Score should be 50+ to 10 or so and like last week 60+ spread is very possible.
When the Bucks are on O
Much like last week. Intro some new wrinkles, get Dobby some reps and get all the WRs engaged.
The new wrinkles are a cool touch by Day. A) They keep the #1s focused b/c they will be running some plays in a game that are new and B) they give the future opponents more stuff to fret about.
It's a departure from the old school where you keep all that stuff in your sweater vest until the big game and then shock everyone including your fan base.
I like it b/c there are still constraints off of those constraints, and they force the opponent to practice to stop them, and since there's only so much time they take time away from them sharpening their knives to stop your base plays.
As I thought last week expect A LOT of Wilson and a little bit O Jameson... as the Bucks work to get their deep ball in a groove and force teams to worry that we can pound em, slice and dice em or rip their head off.
I expect a lot of Teague III and hope that Crowley was more scared than hurt, and can get in the game.
When the Bucks are on D
Base, base and more base and then hopefully the roster is unloaded. The D is one area we likely don't want to show any of our "special action".
A) Rutgers doesn't do enough to even figure out how to scheme it and B) they will likely try and screen us to death so blitzing and other exotics could backfire.
Final Thoughts
PSU/IU is interesting. IU is on a ROLL. SP+ has them at 19th overall and PSU better not be looking ahead or next week's game will lose some luster. Last week was a tough loss in a game they should've won but were out hustled and lost the TO battle.
Minny/Iowa is MORE than interesting. Minny and PSU is a fair matchup as both teams are spread to go. We all know Iowa can be a bitch to play against at Kinnick.
If Minny looks good... they are for real.
IF the Bucks can muster one more solid focused effort on the road against a crap team, my admiration for the leaders and staff will remain off the charts.. we all know that it's harder than it's been looking.
