Was a very limited open practice to media this evening with only four periods available, but I had the chance to catch a bit of what the tight ends, special teams, and wide receivers were working on this evening
- Jalin Marshall, Noah Brown, Braxton Miller, and Ezekiel Elliot all got a chance to field some punts. Wasn't too much work on the return game, but those were the guys catching them
- Cam Johnston is still really, really good and he was booming them tonight. Don't think he was spotting them where he wanted to on every rep on the rugby punts, but the distance and hang time were excellent
- Michael Thomas is just on a different level out there than the guys around him at wide receiver. It's a very talented group of guys at multiple spots, but Thomas looks better coming off of the bus than any of them and plays that way too. Think he's going to have a huge year
- Corey Smith was loose tonight. Dancing around in the warm ups and having fun with Zach Smith. Don't think the suspension is weighing too heavy on his mind. Which is a good thing, he's a pretty up and down kid emotionally, you want to keep him pleasant
- KJ Hill is very fluid out there for a freshman. Think he ends up being a good one at Ohio State before it's all said and done
- AJ Alexander has much better burst than expected coming off of his knee injury. Think he ends up playing this year and not redshirting. He'll be the third TE behind Baugh and Vannett for my money
- Still don't think Rashod Berry's position is settled. Ultimately see him as a DE before he leaves Columbus
