- Ohio State added its 14th member in the 2016 recruiting class today in Cincinnati La Salle punter Drue Chrisman. As we've discussed before, it's not out of the question that Cameron Johnston will enter the draft after this season and if he doesn't Chrisman is considered to be the type of prospect that the Buckeyes would be willing to redshirt for a year behind Johnston with the notion that they wouldn't be able to find a better prospect in 2017.

You may notice the Impact piece was missing today. As you guys may remember, whenever a kicking specialist or a long snapper commits, I do not write the impact piece. I am not going to proclaim myself any type of expert on evaluating those positions so when commitments like that happen I go right to the real experts on the subject instead of running my typical impact story.

With Chrisman, I have went to Kohl's kicking director Jamie Kohl, who rates Drue as the top punter in the nation in the 2016 class. I'll have a story with Jamie's thoughts running first thing in the morning but he told me today that Drue is the best punting prospect he has seen in the last couple of years and felt Ohio State was wise to lock him up now, even if it meant carrying two punters for a year because he also felt the odds were long that the Buckeyes could land a prospect of that caliber next year.

Will have some great insight from Jamie tomorrow, he has worked with Drue personally at multiple camps and will provide some things that quite simply our standard impact piece wouldn't be able to.

- Ohio State co-DC Luke Fickell has been in Florida this week and stopped in today at Hallandale High School to check on four-star wide receiver Joshua Hammond. Hammond is probably in that next tier of wide receivers that Ohio State will really take a close look at if Donnie Corley goes elsewhere. Fickell will be at IMG Academy tomorrow checking on 2016 commits Malik Barrow and Tyler Gerald as well as a ton of 2016 and 2017 targets.

- As we reported yesterday, Tim Beck was in Texas hitting high schools. He stopped by DeSoto to check on QB commit Tristen Wallace. Wallace told me today that he plans to visit over the summer and will likely do so on a camp day so that he can get some extra work in with the offensive staff.

Another very interesting thing that Tristen told me was that his DeSoto team is supposed to be hosting IMG Academy this fall. After Tristen told me this, I checked with a couple of IMG sources who told me they think the game is happening as well. What a game that is going to be if this holds up.

Also, Beck was at Sachse High School today checking on four-star defensive back Jared Mayden. Mayden remains a contender to take one of those few defensive back spots still up for grabs in this class.
