Because of a complication I didn't have my computer with me to live update while Meyer was chatting with us today, but here are some general updates. I will have an expanded piece later in the day though.

Meyer said J.T. Barrett is really on a good path in terms of returning from injury, a lot farther along than originally predicted but he won't be playing in the spring game which isn't much of a surprise. It is going to be Collier against Cardale with Barrett and Braxton both still sidelined.

In terms of long term QB picture, Meyer said he still didn't know and won't have a great idea until fall camp rolls around. Added that Braxton doesn't have a timetable for his return but is still saying things are going well with the rehab on his shoulder.

Meyer pointed out that a number of guys like Dontre, Jalin and Curtis were recruited to help bring the offense more to his liking and style. The speed of the guys allows things to open up much more into the spread he envisioned at Ohio State, which we saw on display last season.

Players Meyer mentioned as having made a big step forward in spring were Curtis Samuel, Noah Brown (Meyer accidentally called him Noah Spence at first) and Bri'onte Dunn on offense and Sam Hubbard, Eli Apple and Vonn Bell on defense.

He also named a few starters as of now, although things could change in fall camp, with Chase Farris at right tackle, Tommy Schutt at defensive tackle, Tyquan Lewis at defensive end and Noah Brown at wide receiver.

The thing Meyer is most interested in when it comes to the spring game is seeing how players like Parris Campbell and Cam Burrows react to being at Ohio Stadium in front of a full crowd.
