The current rules say a player can't leave for the NFL until after three years in college. But, the rules will be changed to allow talents like those of JJ Smith to make the leap after one or two seasons.
Buckeye Nation has been robbed of watching elite talent for the full three years before, mainly because of injuries. Now, college football is in a bit of chaos because of NIL, the portal (free agency) and the playoffs. The courts will get involved and players with elite talent will be able to leave whenever they want.
As in the past, the Buckeyes will just have to find "the next great player" to fill the shoes. Our hearts will be broken, as they have been before.
