Visiting Columbus for First Time

Visiting Columbus for the first time for the Western Kentucky game. Besides the obvious answer of Roosters! Does anyone have suggestions for fun things to do? Looking for both the standard tourist suggestions and some low key things to do? My wife is 7 months pregnant so want to find some stuff for her as well besides the game and Roosters!!

Thanks Buckeye Nation for any suggestions!

@Bill Landis @AustinWard @Birm would love your suggestions as well!

The time has come, It's GAME WEEK.

The most wonderful time of the year is upon us. Ohio State plays a football game this week.

How about a thread of your earliest memories of when you knew you loved Ohio State football.

I remember in 2002 I was in a youth bowling league and had finished up my league and sat near the bar so I could see the TV and watched the Holy Buckeye with my dad.

That was a special season. and my love for Ohio State has only grown since then.

2023 Road Beers and Lodging

Every year there’s always a lot of questions thrown out to @AustinWard, @Birm or the forum at large on what local beers to buy and where to stay. So I thought I would try to provide us a dedicated thread to discuss or share ideas on both.

My family and I are heading to Bloomington this weekend for the first time and would appreciate anyone’s thoughts on either.

Has anyone stayed at the Biddle hotel previously?

The Best Buckeye Coverage

With it being game week finally, I just wanted to say thank you to Austin, Birm and Bill for being the best in the business and providing the best Buckeye coverage. I have been a member of several sites in the past but with the great articles here at The Horseshoe Lounge, and with the information and entertainment of The Podcast, I no longer need the other sites or podcasts. It is hard to continue to put out great content during the long off season but you guys rocked it. You didnt put out stuff just to be putting something out and you also didnt invent stories. So once again thank you Austin, Birm and Bill. I look forward to all the great coverage to come during the season. GO BUCKS

Tailgating question

Thanks in advance for any suggestions. I’ve been to the shoe plenty of times but never really did any tailgating. I live in Maryland and some Maryland fan friends and my family are coming for the game this year. They are definitely wanting to hang out and take in the tailgating atmosphere. Can I get some help on where/when/how to secure a parking spot?

Interior line depth

@Bill Landis People keep referring to our interior line as having a lot of depth but I am not sure that is the case. I am curious what you think. Vimahi is thought to be the top guard backup but seems like he still struggles in pass-pro. Tegra seems like the logical next man up to me based on his size and athleticism. Listening to Bobby Carpenter, who may get a little more access to practice, he said that they are excited about the 'future' inside. I am wondering if not considering Donovan Jackson at tackle has more to do with not having a great replacement than Simmons being too good to keep on the bench. Any thoughts on the depth and who would be 'the next man up' if either of the guards had an injury?

Birm has praise for the D-Backs

Birm, you believe the CBs and Safeties will be a bright spot for this year's defense and they will have quite a few take-aways. Does that mean they have learned to turn their heads to track the ball? And won't just cover with their backs to the QBs, which often draws pass interference penalties.
For the team to be successful, the defense needs to be elite, especially against ND, Penn State, Wisconsin and Michigan. The defense needs to win four regular season games, and then excel in the playoffs.
Remember the Northwestern game? 40 mph winds. Then there could be a game in rain and/or snow!

TOS - "The Helping Technician" Takes a Shot at Jerry Emig

I know that @Birm and @AustinWard absolutely despise "site wars" posts so I hereby (a) apologize for opening this can of worms; and (b) retract my apology because this isn't actually about any other site. Instead, it is about inarguably the most pathetic person to ever invade the Ohio State ecosystem - Kenneth Wilson Stickney. You might have seen D.J. Byrnes rightfully take aim at L'il Kenny earlier today for Stickney badmouthing Jerry Emig under the guise of his "The Helping Technician" proxy. Jerry is an all-time great guy - a rare and absolute gentlemen, and inarguably the primary reason why ANY site maintains even a modicum of access to the Buckeyes program. Indeed, we the fandom have more access to our beloved Buckeyes by primary virtue of Jerry's graciousness than truly does any other major CFB fan base. Just remember: Kenneth Wilson Stickney is a broke grifter who after losing his home is struggling to get by in a ramshackle condo rental on Green Lane in a dumpy part of South LA. L'il Kenny would only have two nickels to rub together if you gave him one. He has NO access and hasn't seen the inside of the WHAC in more than a decade. Anyone who takes aim at Jerry is a certifiable tool.

Harbz punishment revoked, he will coach all season

An agreement between the NCAA and Jim Harbaugh that called for a four game suspension is off, industry sources tell Yahoo Sports. The case will go to Committee on Infractions, likely in 2024. Harbaugh expected to coach all Michigan games this season.

Sources: ESPN can confirm that the negotiated resolution between Jim Harbaugh and the NCAA was not approved by the NCAA’s Committee on Infractions.

Michigan State Recruiting

Last cycle, it looked like Sparty would be a major NIL player. They courted national recruits and landed in the "final" group of many kids who were previously out of their league. Thing is, I don't think they actually landed any of those top tier guys. The brought in 41 guys via the portal.

Seeing them in David Stone's final 5 kinda reminded me of where they were last year.

What happened with their NIL push? Do they plan to build entirely thru the portal? Their 22 class ranked much higher than their 23 class.
