#STUFF 11:00 PM Night Before NSD vibes

As of right now, I think Ohio State is still in good shape with Jeremiah Smith and Eddrick Houston.

I'll call Jeremiah McClellan a toss-up. It's a "love or money" situation and it's unfortunate that is the world we're in now.

I think Ohio State has an outside shot—I don't like percentages but I'll call it 35%—to surprise tomorrow with Amaris Williams.

Football I rewatched all 72 of Devin Brown's snaps this year

To get an idea of where he succeeded and where he struggled as Ohio State formulates a Cotton Bowl game plan with him at QB.

The 1890 initiative - Nebraska Collective

I just came across this and thought it was interesting. Nebraska has a NIL collective called the 1890 Initiative that seems to be almost identical to the 1870 Society. It looks like theirs was started about 6 months earlier in 2022. I don’t know exactly how they are connected, but they seem too similar not to be.

Anyways, both collectives are in the middle of a “countdown to signing day.” NIL fundraiser.

The Nebraska collective has a goal of $500,000 with a donor that will match $250,000. They are currently at $554,000 raised.

The 1870 Society has a donor that will match $50,000. They have no goal and have provided no updates on how much has been raised. At least not publicly.

This may mean absolutely nothing, but I found it interesting. Looking at various teams forums NIL is definitely viewed differently from program to program. Some fanbases seem put off by it and others seem all about it and very willing to contribute.

It seems programs like Nebraska who have rabid fanbases but bad football teams are the most eager to give money to try to return to relevance.

I do wonder how much of a problem that is for a program like Ohio State that has been the most consistently successful program in the sport. I get the sense our fans take it for granted because it’s all we know.

What did I listen to?

Strange TPD today. I get Birm and Austin are frustrated with the lack of media availability and some of the negative news in recruiting, but could we get some actual updates? We get 30 minutes of complaints about journalistic hopes and standards, and nothing about the most pressing issues.
  • What are the odds in these recruitments?
  • Any word on the guys in Columbus this weekend?
  • Who do they expect back or not?
  • Are there are whispers of coaching changes? If not, what does that say about where Ryan Day is going?
Instead we heard about Day needing to be more of a hype man. Strange.

Also strange that they’re worried about the negative storylines in the fanbase when they complain about 30+ minutes and only contribute to them.

Enjoy this site and appreciate this team, but I was hoping for “inside info” not “insider baseball.”

Football Couple contract notes

Expecting all the deals to be finalized and available for reporting soon. Couple things we are hearing will be included among the contracts:

— Big-time raise for Hartline up to roughly $1.6 million. Frye also getting a bump heading into his second season along with that run-game title, and he should be close to $1M.

— Believe there is a two-year deal for Parker Fleming that will pay around $500k per season.

— Keenan Bailey will start as a full-timer at around $400k.

— Multiple guys are only in line for a 3-percent pay raise, which I don’t recall happening too often recently with the Ohio State staff and wouldn’t suggest there was a willingness to negotiate at a higher level. I anticipate that group will include Larry Johnson, who is still being welcomed back for another season.

@Birm put it in a way I couldn’t. OSU following the NCAAs fake rules like they matter is annoying and pointless. If Bama can raise crazy NIL money and same for ole miss when they are in poverty states is embarrassing for OSU. Tattoo gate was a long time ago and we need to regain our mojo. Do exactly what Georgia is doing.

Schools/Areas to stop recruiting

Not for lack of talent. Just a waste of massive allocation of resources. I can already read the replies saying this is a "loser" mentality. I don't see it that way at all. There are great football players all over the country.

- Mater Dei
- IMG
- RBs from south Florida
- St Louis (if McClendon flips) - something happened shortly after we landed Babb and Brown where the Buckeyes stopped recruiting the area. If McClendon flips, stop recruiting STL.
- Louisiana

Did I miss any?

#STUFF On Eddrick Houston and Koi Perich

And the Elijah Melendez commitment

Not a bunch of great news but just sharing what I’ve heard

Interesting note about the 2024 Recruiting Class

We have 1 trench player inside the top 150 per 247. Not complaining about our class as a whole, cause we have some studs but this about made my jaw drop. How do we expect to compete for titles with that kindof turnout in the most important area of the team. Havent looked at Bama/UGA classes but i would venture to say its much more than 1.

October 7 Friendly Fire

The sad, buried reality of that day likely won't be covered in detail by Western media.

"immense and complex quantity" of Israeli deaths caused by the IDF is quite the phrase.

Netenyahu used these people as cannon fodder for a proxy war that helps push his population to the right, maintains his stranglehold on power and uses military force to commit war crimes on par with any other extremist dictator.

Jews deserve so much better.
