This is a sneaky good hire by Day. Philbin was Hartline's head coach at Miami during Hartline's best years. Just a guess, but Day may be serious about turning over play calling to Hartline and Philbin could be a huge influence and provide great support as he develops in that role.

The WR history in town appeals plenty and his unofficial visit in March went well, too

Ohio State will play West Virginia in Cleveland on Dec. 30.

Still a lot to piece together with the non-conference schedule. OSU will play in the CBS Sports Classic with UNC, Kentucky and UCLA. Good chance that's UCLA.

Buckeyes will also play in the Emerald Coast Classic with (reportedly) Alabama, Oregon and a TBD fourth team.

When will the final pre-season recruiting rankings be posted for the '24 and '25 class?

I am wondering about OSU’s future with the portal especially with the Defensive and Offensive lines. I know we would like to recruit and develop but the portal does give a nice back-up option. If we miss out on OT and DL prospects, I expect we will be back in the portal during the earlier (better) window with at least one more OT and several DL players. I think the philosophy has changed and NIL is better and we should expect to have 20-25 recruits and 5-10 transfers each year. @Birm Thoughts?

Been around him a lot since he was in the 9th grade and even back then he would talk up Ohio State. "It's just something about being there..."

Even with the noise of other programs, on the record JS has talked about doing his due dilligence and building up backup plans. UGA/USC are legit in that discussion, but it still comes well after the current makeup of OSU. The Day/Hartline battery is obviously critical here, but if it remains in tact, I think he sticks without much true resistance.
