OT: Cleveland Cavaliers

Didn’t see a thread discussing this fun cavs team for anyone wants to chat with the deadline looming.

I didn’t really think they’d do anything, but now that the nets gave away Durant for nothing I wonder what they’ll do with some of their wings (Joe Harris please and thanks).

Looking forward to this team down the stretch. Hoping Mitchell gets healthy and they can push into a 3 seed with a softer schedule.

Riep and Wint found Not Guilty

"A Franklin County jury on Thursday found two former Ohio State University football players not guilty of raping a female student in 2020 at a Northwest Side apartment. Amir I. Riep and Jahsen L. Wint, both 24, were defensive players for the football team when a then-19-year-old woman in her freshman year at Ohio State accused them of raping her on Feb. 4, 2020.

The jury found them not guilty on all charges: two counts each of rape and one count each of kidnapping."

They had recordings of the girl saying it was consensual. Apparently the football team instructed players to do that for protection.

Culture of the team

First post on here!

I see rather large culture issues within the program:

- I’ve personally know players that played for both Urban/RD … All have said it’s much easier under RD and the WHAC is like a country club now (golf simulator was mentioned and way less intense). I’ve heard it’s the same for coaches.

- Our QB dancing in huddles pre game. Instead of leading and rallying guys (see ttun player on their sideline) our QB rallies guys around him to watch him dance.

- I watched Wypler flip the bird unprovoked on national TV to ttun players warming up. That’s not an exaggeration, he made it a point to run over to their side when we were leaving the field to flip them off. Wild move when they got curb stomped last year.

- Gee Scott head butting a ttun player out of bounds in addition to ALL the other undisciplined penalties we had.

- “The best Fridays in football” social media posts showing our guys goofing around on Fridays. Where is the laser like focus?

- RD no longer blaring “It’s time for war” all ttun week/cancelling SR tackle.

- Ttun planting the flag and taking pics at midfield while players watch and do nothing. Absolutely no passion from this group for this game.

- The kids quitting mid third quarter. I’ve been around enough football to know when a team waves the white flag, we waved it rather earlier on Saturday.

- Let’s not forget we had a kid quit the team mid game last year.

- CJ’s post game comments: “This game doesn’t define us” he quite obviously doesn’t get it. This game is EVERYTHING.

- Trey making excuses on Twitter followed by him removing all of his OSU stuff.

I’m all for discussion but to me it’s rather obvious we have culture issues in this program.

Zed Key Injury

Watching the season go down the drain has me thinking back to when Zed Key left I believe the Duke game with shoulder injury , then a few games later that same should is injured against Iowa , and he hasn’t remotely been the same player .

Having seen Treyveon Henderson trying to play thru broken bone in his foot , and all the grief he took , when clearly he wasn’t healthy, has me wondering if Zed Keys shoulder injury isn’t just a strain , but rather a labrum injury that will require surgery .. He’s looked like a shell of the player that started out the season, and I’m not trying to speculate, but it’s just a drastic difference … Having said all that , this doesn’t give Holtmann a pass in my book .. we are in year 6 , have constantly been undersized , yet not overly athletic . You have guys like Etzler , that can’t sniff the court … Not sure why they brought in Tanner Holden , Eugene Brown barely plays , but you go into this season with Zed Key being your only post player , and Okpara was known to be a project .. Baffling

Football Spring practice numbers

Going through the position groups to see what Ohio State will have this spring, and the defense feels exceptionally light.

Defensive tackle: 6
Defensive end: 6
Linebacker: 6
Cornerback: 5
Safety: 8

That's 31 total scholarship players on defense in the spring, including an incoming transfer and three true freshmen. I'm sure some guys among that group of 31 will either have some load management in the spring or will be out of practice altogether. I don't have the numbers on hand to compare that to past years, but it doesn't feel like a particularly well-stocked cupboard in terms of available players, and it could get hairy in a hurry. The staff might have to get creative with how it organizes practice, or maybe have some guys cross-train at different positions. I'll try to ask Ryan Day about that at some point.

The offense seems to be situated much better with 43 total scholarship players on the spring roster before getting into any guys who won't be available (and there will undoubtedly be some).

Quarterback: 3
Running back: 5
Receiver: 12
Tight end: 6
Offensive line: 17 (18 if you include Avery Henry)

Looking ahead to the summer, when the rest of the 2023 commits will get on campus, the defense is projected to have only 38 scholarship players while the offense is projected to have 45.
