Recruiting question for the masses

To my eye it seems like they’ve made some adjustments. taking a few kids earlier than they might have in years past (no knock on those kids AT ALL). Being more proactive in the Midwest (which probably also speaks to the level of talent in the Midwest, Ohio specifically). While still going “big game hunting”. This definitely feels like a year where OSU will not be looking at their class and feeling that they are light at key positions.

Are people happy overall with how recruiting is going? Any general strategy people would change that is in OSU’s control? (Ie - I’m sure they would love to have some more big time O Line players but they don’t control what and when those kids decide).

Oline Now and Future

@Bill Landis comments about George Fitzpatrick on today's TPD really piqued my interest, which brought about some comments and questions...

Joshua Simmons
What are his floor and ceiling? Do we expect him to return in 2025 as a RS Senior?

Luke Montgomery
He's the favorite to play RG this season. All 5 spots in 25 may be open. Taking his recruiting profile out of consideration, where do we expect him to settle in 25? He's athletic enough to play OT, smart and agile enough to play C, and he'll have a year at RG under his belt.

Tegra Tshabola
What are we to make of the staff's belief he is a "true OT"? I'm not an expert, but he's a prototypical OG to me.

Carson Hinzman
If he loses the C1 job to McLaughlin, will he stay? Did he lose his job due to poor play or something else?

Thoughts on 25 projection?:

LT Fitzpatrick (y4) / Moore (y2)
LG Siereveld (y3) / Armstrong (y2)
C Padilla (y3) / Hinzman (y4)
RG Montgomery (y3) / Van Sickle (y2)
RT Tshabola (y4) / Michalski (y5)

Football LJ wants deeper defensive line in 2024

Wrote about that and dug up some numbers on how OSU's DL rotation/depth compared to other top 10 teams last year. Buckeyes were an outlier in how short their rotation was. Still good, but a deeper group could be needed to achieve their goals in an expanded season.

OT: Be a good person and grab yourself some Jersey Mike’s tomorrow

PSA: Tomorrow is Jersey Mike’s Day of Giving. For those not aware, every dollar they make tomorrow goes to local charities. Here in NE Ohio we’re partnered with Ronald McDonald House. You can see what local charity your store has partnered with here:

It’s one of the coolest things that any big chain restaurant does. Go grab an awesome sandwich tomorrow, and help those that are less fortunate.
