Really?

Yes yes… I know the feelings on Jbook, but this sounds like utter nonsense. If this is actually what Parris said on the podcast (6 real practices and 12-13 light workouts) I’d say we have real issues.

My understanding is they lighten up the first week since everyone is banged up, and then the ramp up after that. Maybe more install because of Brown coming in?

Just sounds either there are issues or some guys are just speaking out of turn, and things are getting amped on social media.

Anyone here deal with chronic ankle sprains?

I played high impact sports most of my life and would occasionally ‘roll’ my ankle. But it was pretty much a ‘play on’ with some swelling and ice treatments mixed in. However one of my good friends was chronically hurting his and out for weeks at a time. I’ve also heard that sometimes ‘it’s better to break’ an ankle than severely sprain it. Meaning it would actually heal better. No idea if that is true.

My point is if Brown falls into the ‘chronic’ category OSU just has to get a QB out of the transfer portal. Unfortunately this would only be known in hindsight regarding Brown (ie if he ends up being one of those guys that is chronically hurt).

The boat is taking on water, but it's not sinking YET....

Neither the stadium, the weather, or scUM’S RB (Haskins, Corum, Edwards) matter. Their culture has been established and we are in trouble.

I’ve heard that the D quit in the second half. I didn’t see that, but the fact that our players and coaches allowed scUM to plant a flag and pose for pictures on our block O says something….no fight, no pride, etc..it also speaks to scUM’S classless coach and players, but that’s a different subject.

I’ve thought for several years that a dynamic QB was needed to win a natty. UGA and scUM are showing you that isn’t true. We had a generational passing QB with ridiculous WR’s and it didn’t matter because we couldn’t run the ball and couldn’t stop the run.

Cam Brown…I thought he had turned the corner (no put intended) the past couple games, but if he makes that tackle short of the first down (knowing that a quick pass had to come w/ the blitz), we very easily could go up 17-3.

I don’t understand the D. If the big passing plays were hurting us because we were selling out to stop the run, why not be more conservative the 2nd half? We leave ourselves more vulnerable to the big play run w/ no safety (although Ransom had the angle). ScUM knew we would bring the house- so much so that one of their OL's picked up Eichenberg blitzing without even needing to block anyone else.

Fluke losses in 1998 to MSU, 2016 to PSU, 2017 to Iowa, 2018 to Purdue, and even last year to scUM hurt, but not like this. Had all year to prepare and couldn't stop those fools...couldn't have asked for a better stage and we failed....again...

Football GAME THOUGHTS: Missouri 14, Ohio State 3

I watched from a birthday party so I'll probably rewatch tomorrow to get a full picture of what happened.

Just kidding that game was a disaster and I'll never watch it again.

Offense: F
  • QB: I don't even feel comfortable evaluating this due to the circumstances.
  • RB: They barely even had a chance due to the QB situation and the offensive play-calling. Mizzou knew exactly what was coming for about 97% of the game.
  • WR: I have no idea. I wish Ballard would have caught that Kienholz pass in the first half even though it was far from a perfect ball. Liked seeing some fight from Emeka.
  • Offensive line: F-. Vimahi had one of the worst performances I've ever seen and Fryar wasn't much better for most of the game. Tegra or Montgomery have to be better than some of these guys. I stopped counting after about a half dozen unblocked pass rushers. Truly awful showing from Justin Frye.
  • I really wish they would have let Lincoln throw a bit more earlier in the game. It obviously wasn't an ideal situation but you can't expect your defense to totally shut down an offense like Missouri's.
  • I would complain about no Dallan Hayden but it was a weird game for obvious reasons so whatever.
  • Updating this to include my portal QB take: At this point just bring in Will Howard since he's the best available guy. Tell Brown and Kienholz he's coming and if they don't want to compete then that's their problem.
Defense: A-
  • The first half performance was an A+. Second half wasn't as good but Missouri is a good offense and giving up 14 points is impressive.
  • Hicks and Styles both got lost a bit on a few key second-half plays.
  • Defensive line was great for much of the game.
  • Simon and Chambers seemed solid early on but Cody Schrader gashed them in the second half.
  • I hate that Burke gave up the one long pass because he was elite otherwise.
  • Jack Sawyer played out of his mind tonight.
  • Ty Hamilton flashed a few times.
  • The flag on Proctor was a garbage call.
Special Teams: F
  • Parker Fleming still being on the staff is hilarious in itself and he put on quite a show again tonight. All we needed was a failed trick play and this would have been his Mona Lisa.
Coaching: F
  • It's December and you weren't playing the 1985 Chicago Bears. Your offense shouldn't look that inept regardless of who's playing QB.
  • I'm not including any of the defensive staff members in this grade.

With people being angry about the WRs leaving after 1 year it brings up the question. How long should a player be willing to wait?

Kirby Smart and Bowl Season “changes”

We keep dancing around the obvious issue that players have no incentive to play in pointless bowl games.

What if, and stay with me for a moment, they simply provided money to the players in exchange for goods and services rendered?

Seems like the logical solution, as these games are already an overly-sponsored grab bag of useless merchandise and handouts to the players they’ll never use.

If you’re okay handing them a $500 prepaid Visa for their trouble, how about putting serious financial incentives for teams to earn at the end of the season?

Anything else is effectively stealing labor and leveraging the powerless players to compete in a game that only further risks their health for the profit of others.

Biggest overreaction ever?

I’m racking my brain but can’t think of a bigger overreaction to a meaningless loss. Our 3rd string true freshman QB couldn’t beat a top 10 team in his first ever real game action? God forbid.

I never want to hear bowl games are meaningless again. Because the way people are acting you’d think we just got blown out by unranked Iowa or Purdue. (heavy sarcasm)

Here’s Alabama’s backup QBs against Southern Florida this season. They are now in the playoffs (because they converted a Hail Mary against 6-6 Auburn)

Reduce the time on the play clock

IMO - Not stopping the play clock after 1st downs was not designed to shorten the game to make it safer. It was designed to allow advertisers more time to run commercials. The result was the equivalent of manufacturers reducing the amount of product in the box. Since changing this is not likely to happen, I think the play clock should be reduced by 5 seconds and allowing teams to use helmet communications to get the play in without running players in or having to signal it in. It would provide the consumers with more football and make for more exciting football.
