How Good Is Michigan?

I was listening to Bill and Doug talk on King of the North about how historically good Michigan is and they compared Michigan to 2019 Ohio State as being a team that also beat up on a lot of bad teams. So I decided to compare them based on opponent yards per play on offense through 9 games. Here are the relative rankings (note: 133 total teams in D-1). Thoughts? To me it’s kind of incredible how many incompetent offenses Michigan has played so far. Seven out of their nine opponents rank 101st or worse in yards per play!

Big Ten Championship and Bowl Games not set to count against redshirt.

I know this was the case last year, but the articles I read described it as a 1 time rule for coaches to get more used to the transfer portal.

But this article about a Washington WR with 4 games in sitting out next week to keep his redshirt but playing in the PAC title and bowl games as quoted by the coach.

This means Dallan can suit up against Michigan for game 4 and be able to play in all games after the fact as well.

I don't hate the redshirt AS much if it is confirmed he can play in the big ten title game and bowl games without it counting towards the 4.

Also good news for Lorenzo Styles who will get the coolest special teams redshirt season possible. Home open, ND (former team), Penn State, Michigan, Big Ten Title, Playoffs.

LeBron Tweets about Jeremiah Smith

Honestly is one of the wildest things I’ve seen in recruiting Twitter for some time. We thinking anything of it more than just Bron saw the highlight video in the tweet and learned he’s an OSU commit? Has LeBron or any other OSU fan tweeted about a recruit before?

For the record, I’m of the opinion where I have almost zero concern about Jeremiah and FSU. I’ll believe a WR of his caliber will flip from Hartline when I see it.

Either way it’s honestly so cool for Jeremiah.

Football GAME THOUGHTS: Ohio State 37, Minnesota 3

A solid performance before the big one.

  • McCord regressed compared to last week. That's not some huge knock on him though considering he was nearly perfect against Sparty.
  • He had a beautiful second-quarter ball to Emeka but then had two bad ones on the same drive; one of which should have been picked.
  • But overall 20/30 for 212 and two scores isn't something to freak out about.
  • I didn't love what they did at the end of the first half. McCord's leg didn't look good on that sack. Glad he was alright afterward though.
  • Nice to see another fast start on offense. The ground game superb from the jump.
  • Henderson is healthy heading into The Game. That's huge.
  • Trey's long TD run to start the second half was pretty much a perfect play. Great blocking all around. Shoutout to Julian Fleming for his effort on that one.
  • Matt Jones went out for a bit but seemed okay in the second half unless I missed something.
  • Fryar got beat on the sack at the end of the first half, but I thought the offensive line was good otherwise.
  • Egbuka looks healthier.
  • Glad to see Hayden.

  • I'm not saying he is or isn't, but I think an argument can be made for Jordan Hancock being the best player on defense this year.
  • There are gift interceptions, lucky ones off of tipped balls, and then just great defensive plays. Hancock's pick was a great defensive play.
  • Jack Sawyer was great and has quietly been really good and probably a bit under-appreciated this season.
  • lol @ JT looking for a block so he could score on the fumble recovery and then hammering Hancock.
  • Also lol @ like seven guys getting flagged for the posing penalty.
  • I thought the linebackers were solid today. Simon was probably the better of the two but Steele was fine.
  • Secondary is elite. I've seen people suggest that Igbinosun is the guy opponents should target, but I think he's been pretty solid sans a few penalties this season.
  • Enjoyed seeing a big hit from CJ Hicks late in the game.
  • Jackson and Curry getting some pressure was also encouraging,
  • Fielding is fine. But the special teams is still a problem.
