Your QB Wish List

Like most of you, I'm not enthralled with the names currently in the portal. We also know it takes 1 call or text to get your guy into the portal. That said, who is on your "wish list"?

Knowing a 1yr guy probably pushes Brown to the portal and a multi-year guy probably pushed LK to the portal.

Despite the losses to Michigan and lack of trophies, I want Day to go full "big Ric" energy - recruits don't care about losing to your rival, they care about the money they get now, and the potential monet they can get in the NFL - shoot your shot. He's hotter than ever as a recruiter. The only QB to start and finish the "Ryan Day QB School" is shredding the NFL and looking like a guy who will sign a $300-400 M contract in 3-4 years. Oh, and he's got BH's room of 5-star WRs to help him out. I want Day hand-picking the guy he wants to run his offense and bring him to CBUS.

Some guys I really like:
1 yr:
Michael Pratt (Tulane)
KJ Jefferson (Arkansas)
1+
Kaidon Salter (Liberty)
Jackson Arnold (Oklahoma)
Conner Weigman (TAM)
Cade Klubnik (Clemson)
Taylen Green (Boise State)
Ty Thompson (Oregon)
Maalik Murphy (Texas)

Who do you like?

Jeremiah Smith

It seems the noise with him is exceeding the usual dull hum. Sounds like he's planning on taking an OV to FSU and Jordan Lyle tweeted "It’s all going to make sense." Obviously the latter could have nothing to do with JS but it's not exactly what you love to see on the home stretch. Is this business as usual where if Hartline is here Smith will be here with him or is this more cause for concern than normal?

Parker Fleming

@Birm @AustinWard @Bill Landis are any of you able to talk myself and the rest of Buckeye Nation and re-assure us that Parker Fleming will not be on this staff much longer.

Seeing him on the road and Laurinatis on the sideline with all of this KVA discussion going on seems like a potentially serious mistake. A top of the board player could be in play and the coach best suited to make the flip happen is on the sideline because of a wasted staffing spot for an incompetent ST coach. It makes no sense!

If you could only get one of three: J Smith, Scott, Seaton

You can only sign one, who do you take?

  • Jeremiah Smith

    Votes: 37 57.8%
  • Jordan Seaton

    Votes: 24 37.5%
  • Justin Scott

    Votes: 3 4.7%

Just curious if you could only get one of the three who do you take?

I feel crazy for saying it given our better depth at WR than O-Line and DT. But I still have to go Smith. There just seems like there is 0 chance he isn't a star where with lineman the 5 stars have a greater risk of not living up to the rating.

QB coach

If Cory Dennis is not retained then who would be the qb coach? Todd Fitch would be the in-house option and seemed like he was the co-qb coach anyway. Not sure how he is with recruiting but he has 15 years or so of being the qb coach and or oc in college football. After 3 years on the staff, you would think he knows the system pretty well. JT Barrett might be an option as well. Ryan Day experimented with having an ‘outside’ voice with Mike Yurcich and that didn’t go well so would think he would pick someone from his coaching tree.

Ryan Day will not be fired.. let’s talk realistic staff changes that will occur

I just posted this in another thread .. it’s pointless to discuss Ryan Day being replaced .. it’s not happening … What is going to happen is there will be changes made to the staff. @Birm has alluded to this all season long … I think it’s fair to assume Hartline, Knowles , Eliano, Walton , Bailey almost certain to return.. James L will be an addition , and Fleming is sent packing …

I think LJ is toast , and retires ..

Mick is replaced …

Is Alford retained ? Is Dennis retained ?

Transfer portal timeline and process

Would be interesting to know how OSU will approach the portal. There are 1100 or so players in it now and this will grow. How does Ohio state narrow this down, start relationships, do visits, (make financial offers) all in the span of about a month? Is Ohio state able to go through this process with 50 or more portal entries and end up with 6-8 of them? Or how will they approach this?

The Live Show - Discussion Topic

Listening to the live show on podcast now, and I believe Birm went on a couple minute stretch where he was basically saying pre-Haskins, McCord’s season this year would’ve been really good compared to the previous standard, and that stated that while the standard is higher now……..

It is an “unattainable” standard that fans are now holding OSU QBs too, and the backlash towards McCord this season was largely unfair

I agree with some of that and disagree with some of it too, I’m wondering what others think on here about if the fanbase is now holding OSU QBs to an “impossible” standard and if we were all unfair to McCord?

The prohibitionists have lost as intelligent Americans see through their 80+ year reefer madness propaganda campaign. Marijuana legalization is now supported by 69% of Americans, including 62% of Republicans and 51% of senior citizens.

It's time for Biden/Harris to leave their drug war mentalities in the trash bin of history and allow the will of the American people to prevail. This is the single most bipartisan issue in American politics. It's time to get out of the way of progress.
