Realistic expectations for incoming transfers

CB Davison Igbinosun
LT Joshua Simmons
LS John Ferlmann

S Ja'Had Carter
DT Tywone Malone
CB Lorenzo Styles Jr
IOL Vic Cutler

QB Tristan Gebbia
LB Nigel Glover

What are the realistic expectations for incoming transfers? For all the analysis and hype, the Buckeyes got meaningful reps from 3 guys - Igbinosun, Simmons and Ferlmann.

Carter and Malone barely played and have already been passed by younger players. Styles played as much as I expected, but far less than many hoped. Cutler was a bad take from the beginning, imho.

My takeaway is that OHST caliber players are OHST caliber players for good reason. The jump to come in from the outside and beat the players recruited and developed by the staff is really hard. Before I allow myself to get enthralled by guys from Harvard and MTSU, I want to temper my own expectations.

Images of McCord missing open receivers

I have a scum buddy saying no one was open all day etc. I saw on here or Twitter where some pics were posted showing 4 plays where guys were open and Kyle forced it into coverage or did not check down. Since he is calling bullshit can anyone locate those or send a link where they can be found? I've searched with no luck. I need to let it go but these insufferable assholes need to be corrected sometimes!

Football Game Thoughts: #3 Michigan 30, #2 Ohio State 24

I've had about enough of this.

  • McCord settled down as the game went on, but his inaccuracy early on was a killer.
  • Emeka didn't help him much on that first drive. He should have caught it for a first down.
  • McCord showed great pocket presence on the one deep ball to Marv (the one that also had the PI).
  • I hated the strategy at the end of the first half. That was far from the Georgia Ryan Day. Ohio State should never play for a 50+ yard field goal.
  • They got the running game rolling on a few drives (loved the opening second-half drive), but they weren't able to hit the home run.
  • I didn't think the offensive line was terrible against a good UM front (especially the DTs). Fryar definitely had some whiffs early in the game though. The blocking on the last play was terrible.
  • Julian Fleming only had a few catches but they were all big ones.
  • The third and long handoff to Xavier Johnson was a nice play call.

  • I thought the defense was mostly solid against the run. UM averaged 4.2 yards per carry.
  • Impressed with Colston Loveland. He's a heck of a player.
  • Really wish they would have hit McCarthy more.
  • I don't think Roman Wilson caught that TD pass, but I knew they wouldn't overturn it.
  • I have no idea why Malik Hartford was on the field for that play.
  • Pretty blatant push-off on Jordan Hancock when UM converted the late third down. That should have been OPI.
  • I am a Ryan Day believer, but this has become a problem. Losing against Sherrone Moore is a tough look.

Who is the one college qb either on OSUs roster or in the portal that could help them beat Michigan next year?

My pick would be Kienholz. He has a year of experience in the system, has the swagger, escapability, and good passing ability to do the job. Kyle had 3 years in the system, and a season to do it and couldn’t. Did not improve much in my opinion. Devin had some nice passes but was inconsistent with his passing and fumbled a lot. Noland doesn’t have any experience with OSUs offense or in CFB. If you bring in a portal person (all have warts), I think you could chase all 3 of our QBs away and they could be worse than what we have. Although I do like the idea of going after DJU to handle the 4th and one plays.

How much better would McCord be if......

If the offensive line could run-block? Against Maryland, Day called running plays on first down and the backs struggled to gain one or two yards. Kyle McCord then faced a second-and-eight or nine yards. If the line could block and the backs gained 8 yards, or even 5 yards, the next plays would be easier.
The OL's poor run-blocking is making life very hard for the young quarterback.
