That was one of the ugliest big-time wins I've ever watched.
- Kyle McCord was simply bad today. There's really no other way to put it. Even some of the completions could have gone for bigger yardage had the ball been placed better.
- I thought the OL was holding up early on; even in run-blocking. It seemed to get worse as the game went on though. Miyan and Chip both averaged less than three per pop. This is still a major concern.
- The one early sack on McCord was because of a really bad Chip Trayanum whiff.
- Miyan ran extremely hard even if there was mostly nowhere to go.
- Just a reminder that Parker Fleming was given a $200K raise and is now earning half a mill.
- There were still some drops by Marv and Xavier. It's becoming a bit of a problem.
- Marv schooling Porter Jr. and now Kalen King in back-to-back years is beautiful. I think King is far better than Porter. Marv took them both to the woodshed.
- I'm not sure about the one holding call on Simmons. I will say I thought he jumped early multiple times and didn't get flagged.
- Loved the play call on the TD pass to Marv, but otherwise Day was pretty bad again today.
- On the 4th and goal, PSU had approximately 20 guys to the one side of the field. What does Ohio State do? Throw it to Carnell Tate on that side of the field.
- The lack of Hayden is still mystifying to me. I don't even care if he gets the bulk of the carries, but nothing at all after last week's performance?
- I think Ohio State missed Trey today. PSU was blitzing like crazy and a screen or two to Henderson could have done some serious damage (even though Ohio State still doesn't call these as much as they should imo). Don't even get me started on Ohio State's injury reporting. I'll never understand that.
- I hate that injury for Devin Brown. He's handled the QB battle with class. Interested to see if Gebbia or Kienholz will be next in line (if ever needed).
- lol @ 4th and 27
- Props to Manny Diaz. He called a really good game today. The Ohio State offense has some problems, but give credit to the PSU defense as well.
- Just a reminder that Parker Fleming was given a $200K raise and is now earning half a mill.
- This defense is elite. Remember The Athletic report this week where multiple anonymous B1G coaches said the Ohio State secondary is a major problem? lolz
- Outside of a couple 10+ yard runs early on and a few late penalties, I thought the defense was nearly perfect.
- I'm no expert but it sure seems like Knowles is doing a fantastic job of disguising what's going on
- I think everyone (myself included) should be done complaining about JT Tuimoloau's stat line. He's been disruptive as hell for much of season. Love how he shows out against PSU. He's a bloodhound when it comes to screens.
- There were two massive special teams plays that could have been total game-changers. The 72-yard punt was huge. Unfortunately so was Styles touching the ball and giving it back to PSU.
- Just a reminder that Parker Fleming was given a $200K raise and is now earning half a mill.
- The 3rd-down defense was especially beautiful. At one point PSU was 0/12 on third downs (I know they converted one on that late drive but I don't really care)
- Linebackers were a lot better today. There was some confusion on a few of those long runs I think, but I won't complain too much about this.
- Drew Allar was really bad. There weren't a lot of open guys, but he missed them when they were there.
- Jermaine Mathews is going to be a superstar.
- Jordan Hancock impressed me as well. Denzel Burke has been amazing but I honestly didn't notice his absence today.
- I continue to be incredibly happy for Josh Proctor and all that he's doing.
- Just a reminder that Parker Fleming was given a $200K raise and is now earning half a mill.
