Coming to you live from my office, which many people are calling the Maui of my house. Will be watching the basketball game tonight and dropping some thoughts in here. Should be an informational evening of hoops. If anyone wants to chat about some basketball, this is where I'll be. We might even be blessed with a guest appearance from @Birm.

Football How C.J. Stroud's numbers stack up to other Heisman hopefuls

Got a good question from @passpassrun about Stroud's numbers when kept clean vs. under pressure and against the blitz, and how that compares to some of the other top QBs and Heisman contenders.

EA Sports NCAA Football coming 2024 instead of 2023

Well this is quite disappointing to say the least. Was really looking forward to this but I guess we all have to wait an extra year. Don’t blame them though, a lot of stuff that goes into making games and especially now with NIL and paying thousands of student athletes it seems like it’s a giant headache to be involved in. Here’s a link with some pretty good information about it.

Monday Pod Question

@Bill Landis thanks for the pod, quick question and may be something you are already working on, but I’ll ask anyways.

Do you have CJ’s numbers under pressure vs. kept clean? A lot of people are talking about this locally and nationally, but only anecdotally without the stats. I think it’d be helpful to show it over the course of the season and in the context of college football in general (or perhaps heisman hopefuls).

I just think some actual numbers would be really helpful to give context to this of supplement own view of watching and dissecting CJ’s play. Thanks.

More updates from Ann Arbor

Same insider as before.

“Check back with me on Friday” - That was my source's text to me today regarding Corum and Edwards. Said those two will be getting treatment all week while he doesn't expect Corum to take more than a handful of practice snaps. He did tell me Sunday that he expected Corum to play Saturday but was very, very cautious in saying to what effectiveness.

I did ask the confidence level they can go down to The Shoe and win if they're not 100% at the running back position. Michigan feels they have some young guys that can step up but also acknowledges they'd have to be a very different offense than they have been all season long, and achieving such a dramatic transformation in a few days of practice is not easy. Though, the framework has always been there: "We've been working all season on a lot of the things we've been criticized for lacking, but it just hasn't come together in games. We'd need JJ's best game and his receivers would have to make the plays they haven't been making."

Michigan wouldn't abandon the run but think we saw pretty clear that a trio of Stokes, Dunlap and Gash isn't going to scare anyone. Stokes has come on but the dropoff from Corum/Edwards to the other three is Grand Canyonesque.

——————-

There seems to be a lot of injury concerns beyond those two. Chris Balas posted a vague post about it and then deleted it shortly after when everyone started freaking out. That only made people freak out more 😂

Clearly both teams are banged up, but I get the sense they might be more so or at least have less depth.
